The Moon

The Moon is a mystery and, in some ways, represents the greatest mystery of all: the human soul.

Like the moon’s lunar orbit, our lives are cyclical. We have moments of clarity and brightness and moments where our path is obscured. Like the moon shape-shifting from a dark sphere into a glowing orb, our spirits, too, ebb and flow. We must embrace change.

If you’re working with the Moon, you’re asked to see what your spirit is being denied. Who are you at your core, and is that fully expressed in how you live? Where is your life heading? The Moon asks you to look underneath the exterior so that new understanding can emerge.

The moon is most easily seen in the middle of the night; like the moon, our illumination happens at the darkest hour. You might find yourself at a breaking point, fearful and uncertain about yourself or the path ahead. While you might feel alone, there’s a light guiding you through the pitch-black landscape. The Moon brings you through shadow.

While this card is often synonymous with difficult changes and revelations, it can also appear when something remains veiled to the Seeker. Someone’s intentions or feelings may be hidden, or you might not see the entirety of a situation.

The Moon is also connected to the occult, psychic ability, and a heightening of the senses. What’s evading your sight is more easily grasped when you slow down, listen, and observe. You might deepen your awareness through esoteric studies.

The Moon’s message can bring further challenges, especially when the card is drawn reversed. You might be avoiding deep-seated emotions or trauma, struggling with mental health, or involved in chaotic situations. The Moon is a call to open up a challenging window into your life; you must see what’s troubling you.

The moon’s ability to move from a thread of light into a glowing orb and then disappear into darkness reveals that our lives are synonymous with change. The Moon is a call to see where you are in the ever-shifting cycles of life.
