A black hole spoke to me. So I listened.

A black hole spoke to me. So I listened.

This is a four-part post, written in September 2026, about the psychic and creative process behind the piece, Black Hole of Circinus.

Part 1: A black hole spoke to me. So I listened.

September 3rd, 2026

Back in February 2026, when I was feeling really depressed about the state of the world, a headline caught my interest.

A supermassive black hole was reborn after 100 million years, with plasma jets stretching out 1 million light years! And get this! This crazy mofo is 10 times wider than our Milky Way galaxy. It’s one of the largest recorded tidal events in the universe!

Funny thing, I thought to myself. Why are we seeing this now? When our world is falling apart?

(Below photo shows black hole research happening next to color swatches in my sketchbook. Oh yes).

So next, I did what any responsible psychic artist does, and I went deeper. I asked the black hole why it was revealing itself now.

Well, it turns out this thing had a lot to say. The black hole was like I AM A BEING. I look like This. And I want to tell you more.

I have to admit, I was spooked. Because every day after we started speaking, I saw the being in my head. And it was somewhat menacing and demanding, but also alluring. It wanted me to paint it and get it right.

Remember my saying?

They say Artists are tortured, but it’s not because they’re unhappy. It’s because the Art drives them crazy.

I was being tortured by this being! It had mystery and power! I wanted to appease it, know it, and ask it all kinds of questions! But to answer me, it demanded I paint it correctly first. The way it was showing itself in my mind was incredible! How could I possibly capture its insane beauty?

Early sketches show first attempts with words that came to mind:

Scary

Spectral

Dark

Beautiful

Magical

I also saw the Black-Hole-Being’s skin and eyelashes being pulled off, but that somehow making them more powerful. In the below sketch, I tried to get that right:

And get this. While I was drawing this in my sketchbook, I was listening to Mariee Sioux , and she was singing this:

“…Can’t tell if those are black hole eyes I spy
Staring down at us
Sucking starlight through our eyes….”
(from her song Buried in Teeth).

So yeah.

Here I was, drawing a black hole being that told me to draw its eyelashes and eyes being sucked towards itself (see art above!),

and

it had the audacity to make sure I got the message by stalking me through a song.

WHYYYYY

Well, why not, I guess? It’s every day a black hole finds a psychic medium artist that will listen to it.

🖤

There’s more to the story! Part 2 is coming…

Tune in for next week’s Substack and I’ll tell you where this being took me next…

Part 2: I can’t see it, but I know it exists

Beings, black holes, and invisible forces

September 10th, 2026

I’ve been talking about the Black Hole that spoke to me and demanded that I paint it.

This got me thinking about invisible forces.

The only reason we know black holes exist is because of the stars and space-stuff that breaks, heats up, and glows around it. It’s called an accretion disk.

The black hole itself is invisible, and they stretch spacetime! And they trap stuff around them and make it glow brighter. Whoa.

It’s like the center of a spider web.

A rough sketch of a spider web with a black hole in the center
Little sketch by me illustrating my point

We can only see the center because of the web around it and the bugs that get caught in it.

Life is like that. We struggle to get to the root and center of something. “Why do I keep attracting the wrong types? Why am I falling into the same patterns?”

We can see what is breaking apart, but struggle to understand what’s at the core.

The Being from the Black Hole that demanded a portrait had something to say about this. It wanted to show me how it breaks things apart.

It feels like a message for our suffering. And I say OURS because I feel like the Black Hole Being spoke to me because this is where humanity is. We are in our Black Hole moment.

An ink study that remains a study

The Black Hole told me that these evil people, using their massive power, had no idea what they were messing with.

It said, “YOU THINK YOU ARE SO POWERFUL. HA. You are nothing. My eyelashes, lips, skin, and hair may be coming out, because I am a BLACK HOLE BEING, but I am well equipped to turn your abuse against you tenfold.”

Gee, shux, okay…

How the heck do I capture that, my dearest?

I did another painted study to try and appease them.

Here, in this painted study, I tried to capture the Black Hole Being’s statement. The Black Hole Being is freaking fierce, and all the dudes are drowning in the force they thought they controlled.

I was pretty happy with this study and also the fact that the Black Hole Being was sharing its wonderful little personality with me.

I was getting closer. Or was I?

🖤

The Black Hole Being said, “This is cute, Rebecca, but this does not depict my awesome wrath. ”

Well, fine then.

Again, the Being haunted me with its glowing eyes. Their arms breaking and skin peeling off…

More on this next week…

🖤

Part 3: A ghost is in control

The Black Hole Being behind the wheel

September 17th, 2026

We can’t see black holes. We know they’re there because of the light around them.

A little painted study I did about that-right here.

Want to hear something incredible? Most galaxies have a black hole in the center. And get this. Black holes control how fast a galaxy grows. These massive, mysterious, invisible ghosts run the show. We have one in the center of the Milky Way with its hands on the wheel, right now.

I’ve been chronicling my journey as a psychic artist talking to a Black Hole Being. I know. It’s pretty far out.

Black Holes want to be seen, and this one has been riding me hard. It wants me to know it’s a galactic helper. We fear them–but they say there is nothing to fear.

The Black Hole Being I’ve been hanging with tells me they’ve been managing things. It’s been drawing in energy, showing me it’s more powerful than those who seek to control it.

The dark magicians running things don’t understand the black magic they’re working with. All this time, they’ve been giving energy to a Black Hole Being who will destroy them.

This is what the Black Hole Being has told me. This is why it’s revealing itself now.

It is not scared.

Their skin may peel off, and their eyelashes stretch out, but they know that true power cannot be destroyed.

Does this face look like you, Black Hole Being? You’re getting closer, they said.

We should not be scared. We should not shy away from destruction. All growth requires it. In us, in the world. It’s happening.

We are bigger than this body. We are galaxies. We are stars. We are Black Hole Beings.

We can talk to anything in the universe right now, and it will listen. But you have to listen back.

Another painted study of the Black Hole Being. It’s demanding.

This Black Hole Being has been my teacher.

It has haunted me with its demands of how it wanted to be painted and what it wants to say.

Next week is the final installment of the Black Hole series, when the final piece and message will be revealed…
