Cards drawn: The Six of Cups reversed, Justice, and the King of Swords.
The American people find some form of Justice, though it is not to the extent that it should be. The children next to Justice suggest continued debate over the E-Files. I am hopeful that with Justice appearing next to the children in the Six of Cups, some of the files will be released. Some justice will be served.
However, the fact that Six of Cups is reversed feels like half-truths. With the King at the end, it feels like influential people getting off scot-free, or only some names revealed.
⚖
The King of Swords seems unaffected by the figure to his left. Justice is served, but is it for him? His sword is strangely angled. Compared with the sword in justice, it feels like crooked justice. Justice is always skewed to serve the rich and powerful.
⚔️
The King of Swords feels at odds with the Justice card. At a glance, they are on the same page. Both hold swords, suggesting that in 2026, serious issues are tackled and traitors are held accountable by the law. My heart wants to scream JUSTICE IS COMING! But I find the words catching in my throat.
Sometimes a tarot card changes when you read it in combination with other cards, or what stands out can change on a given day. Normally, the red veil in the Justice card is just there, doing its thing. But not in this reading.
When I looked at these cards for the initial read of energy, the red veil was screaming at me. It said, “We can’t see it all.”
Hanging between the pillars, the veil hides something from view. We don’t see the full scope of what’s happening. Many things are hidden from us in this administration. I also feel it suggests the illusion of justice while law and the constitution face further erosion.
And yet, when I look to the King, the open air around the throne suggests someone clearing the air and letting truth reign.
This suggests a false savior to me. Someone rolls in, says they’re saving the day, only to continue in tyranny.
It does feel like there are some bounds set with corruption, but I don’t see it rooted out completely. It’s like corruption is given a facelift.
The King of Swords does not look like Orange Cringe to me. It feels like someone is replacing him. They hold the sword of justice, but it is tilted, and their stare is cold. While the truthful scrutiny inherent to the King is usually a positive, in this sequence of cards and imagery, it feels sterile and patriarchal.
I asked my partner what stuck out in the cards. He was drawn to the two children exchanging cups. He said that we may work to find common ground. We get through this by joining in community.
Thoughts from other tarot peeps

Here are some notes from two wonderful readers, Allyson and Kate. We explored these cards in December’s Tarot Club. 📝
Here’s what Allyson had to say:
- They’re kind of in the same position (J and King), but not really.
- The King is in the middle of nowhere. {My thoughts: Leaders out to lunch?}
- The Six of Cups shows an apology. The person getting the flowers says “No.” There’s no real trust between the two.
*I personally read Allyson’s notes as a new leader who’s not really the leader. Someone is pulling puppet strings behind the new leader. Apologies are given but no one buys it. It feels like throwing people a few crumbs while they starve. Band-aid solutions.
📝
Here’s what Kate had to say about the cards:
Kate
- The Six of Cups is giving to get. To be owed.
- Being unsure (The King of Swords-face looks scared).
- Justice is burdened. The figure is heavy with holding the sword and the scales. {My thoughts: Justice becomes theatrical}.
- Domineering energy.
- The King of Swords is larger than life – floating. {My thoughts: AI? Marketing?}.
- Hovering over lands – Giant in the King of Swords {My thoughts: Land grabs}.
- The King of Swords wears ICE. {Wow. Kate said this without realizing what she actually said. I had to point out the literalness of the statement}.
- The Six of Cups wear rags, looking like war-torn children. Russians have been/are taking Ukrainian children. Seeing Ukraine in the Six of Cups. Head covers. Colors. Buildings. Kate says, “All of a sudden, Trump and Zelensky are now chummy?”
- Children not being cared for. {My thoughts: Poverty in U.S.}.
- Younger people will play a big role in Justice.
- Genuine compassion. We can all help people who we know need help. Community organizing.
- Uncertainty in face. Wearing ICE, but still sitting there. Not convinced.
- Justice challenges Kings who hold uncertainty.
