Creative Practice

My present creative practice currently focuses on painting, writing, and Butoh dance. I have also spent many years writing songs and performing.

I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (2002) and a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2008).

My visual work is geared toward deepening my understanding of symbols, spirits, and all things metaphysical. The paintings I create become Oracle and Tarot Decks. The research I do in order to create these works becomes written guidebooks (for the decks), and occasionally appears in my blog or in classes I teach.

Currently, I also explore Japanese butoh dance as a form of body trance. Butoh is a form of theatrical dance that allows one to become something else completely. To name a few, I have danced as the God Eros, a shadow, and a honeycomb.

Building a relationship with creatures, symbols, guides, myths, Gods, and Goddesses is the root of my creative work and forms a basis for much of my professional work as well.

I have created hundreds of paintings, artwork, and songs over the years. Check out the Art + Music links for a sampling of some of my work. You can see my decks on my shop page. Enjoy!
